Powassan Wesleyan Church
recently appeared outside of 250 Clark during
The Powassan Maple Syrup Festival
on Saturday April 27th, 2019.
We, as a worship team, play at church on a regular basis.
Our music consists of old traditional hymns, some contemporary songs and a mixture of country gospel and southern gospel.
The group usually consists of Carol Thompson playing piano , Frank Stratton playing harmonica, Cathy Ratz vocals, David Gosselin lead vocals and lead guitar, Kevin Millard vocals and guitar, Ralph Wright bass vocals, Dean Tofflemire bass guitar, Randy Gale vocals and drums.
Here is a picture and some footage of our time spent at the Powassan Maple Syrup Festival this year. Thank you to all who stopped by to listen and encourage us we appreciate you so much. It was a chilly day but we were happy to share some uplifting worship music.
Our Alpha Film Series Began
Sunday, March 3rd, 2019
at 5:30 P.M. (now concluded)
For all our searching – it’s rare to find time to think, and talk, about the big questions of life; about faith and reason and God
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that explore the basics of the Christian faith. Typically run over 8-12 weeks, it allows anyone to explore life, faith and God in a friendly, open and informal environment. In each session, there’s food, a short talk, and discussion in small groups.
Alpha is for everyone – welcoming people from all backgrounds, religions and viewpoints.
Have a look at the short videos above to get a feel for what this series is all about.

It’s that time of year again – yes, I am talking about
Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes
National Collection Week: November 12-18, 2018.
These shoeboxes were returned to the Church by November 11th to enable us to get them to the collection point in time.
Thank you and God Bless!
If you still have shoeboxes to get to the collection point you still have until this Sunday (November 11th) to get them here to go with these boxes… failing that you can find a drop-off location near you by visiting this link, below, (which opens in a new window)
Or by calling Samaritan’s Purse at 1-800-303-1269
Recently we had an event called
Gospel Music Jam & Sing-a-long
Sunday, August 26 at 3 PM
(to which our community was invited)
At the home of
Dave & Sharon Gosselin
Here is a little look at some of the things
that happened at the event:
We are a church that is a strong supporter of missions both domestic and foreign. Several times a year we have individuals and teams going out to do ministry elsewhere. This might mean here in the North helping our church plants in Swastika and Thunder Bay. It might mean supporting others to minister to First Nations peoples up the James Bay Coast or helping the New Men’s Shelter in North Bay.
We have sent young people literally around the world to share in a number of ways. Over the last 10 or 15 years we have been involved extensively in Mexico, and in the Dominican Republic in building projects and other kinds of ministry. We have also sent teams to Ukrainer and Guatemala.
Movie Screenings For The Community
Once a month (on the first Sunday of the month) at 7:00 p.m. we screen a FREE movie for anyone who wishes to attend. You don’t have to go to church here to come join us for an uplifting and thought-provoking movie. All are welcome from the community. If the subject matter is of a more serious nature advisory will be given well in advance if the movie is not for young children. Here are our posters for some of the movies we have screened.
Operation Christmas Child
Our church participates in Operation Christmas Child run by Samaritan’s Purse. We are a collection point for shoe boxes that will travel around the world to bless children that often will not have received a Christmas gift ever before in their life. Each recipient is presented with not only their shoe box but a chance to learn about the life and love of Jesus.
These boxes have been collected and prayed over…you still have time to get yours in. Collection week is November 13 -19th 2017. Our shoeboxes are heading to the main collection point for the area tomorrow morning (November 15) so it will be up to you to get yours there too by the 19th if they are not in this pile.
